Adopting a Puppy
To adopt a puppy, please read the below agreement covering our guarantee and your responsibility as a buyer. If after reading the agreement you are still interested in one of our puppies, please fill out the form below and send it to us. We will get back to you within 24-48 hours. Our pups come with a 1-year health guarantee, microchip with prepaid lifetime registration, first and second rounds of vaccinations at 6 and 8 weeks and dewormed
Prices are subject to change without notice; however, we will honor the price you were given at the time of deposit.

General     

  • After completion of the agreements below, we will contact you. If we mutually agree that one of our puppies would be a good fit for you and your family, you can then place a non-refundable $500 deposit to secure a spot on the wait list. The deposit will go toward the final cost of the puppy. Deposit is transferable to the next litter or refundable if, for some reason, we are not able to provide a puppy for you.
  • When you place a deposit, you are added to the waitlist. When puppies are born, we go down the list in the order deposits are paid, and you then choose if you want a puppy from that current litter/pairing or want to wait for a future litter/pairing. If you choose to wait you will then be bumped up to the next available spot on the list. If, for some reason, we are unable to provide you with a puppy as promised, your deposit will be fully refunded.
  • Puppy selection and visits will not begin before 6 weeks old. This ensures the puppies' health and safety and gives us time to get to know their personalities and help you make an informed decision. ​The person on the top of the list will make their selection and the person next in line will proceed. ​If you are unable to make your decision in person, we will schedule a virtual video session to help you make your choice. 
  • The remaining balance is due at the time of pick-up. Puppy will not be released until full payment is received. If full payment is not made and you do not show up at the agreed-upon date and time to pick up your puppy. Puppy will be re-listed after 48 hours of no-show. We accept deposits and final payments in Cash, USPS Money Orders, or Cashier's Checks. Deposits may also be made with Zelle/CashApp. ​

     Our Guarantee

  • We have adopted the practice known among ethical breeders to produce sound, healthy Golden Retrievers.
  • Sweetbay Goldens are purebred and AKC Registered. Both parents have had healthy and genetic testing. 
  • Our Puppies are in good health at the time of purchase. They have been loved and properly cared for daily. Our puppies come with a 1-year health Guarantee and will be checked by a veterinarian and current on vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped.
  • Buyer has 3 business days from the delivery date to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian at the buyer's sole cost. If the puppy fails the examination, Buyer may return the puppy with a written statement from the veterinarian, for a replacement puppy from a litter of Buyer's choice. Failure of the Buyer to have the puppy examined within 3 business days will nullify this warranty. 
  • In the event of a serious life-threatening illness or death of the puppy within the limits of the health guarantee, all registration papers must be signed and returned to Sweetbay Goldens along with all diagnostic tests and/or necropsy before the replacement puppy is sent.
  • The following will void all guarantees:                 
  • Buyer permitted the dog to be underfed or overfed at any time.
  • Evidence of neglect or abuse.
  • Unexplained or untreated trauma, broken bones, related injuries, physical harm, etc.
  • The dog has been bred (without prior permission).
  • Evidence of strenuous exercise. 
  • Buyer failed to properly vaccinate/deworm in accordance with the standard veterinary recommended schedule.
  • Dog has been spayed/neutered prior to 18 months of age.

 - Buyers Responsibilities

  • Buyer has 3 business days from the delivery date to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian at the buyer's sole cost. If the puppy fails the examination, Buyer may return the puppy with a written statement from the veterinarian, for a replacement puppy from a litter of Buyer's choice. Failure of the Buyer to have the puppy examined within 3 business days will nullify this warranty. 
  • To make a claim of death of puppy a necropsy by a licensed veterinarian will need to be performed and a copy of the results forwarded to Sweetbay Goldens and our veterinarian for examination before replacement puppy is sent. Sweetbay Goldens' veterinarian reserves the right to consult with Buyer's veterinarian if deemed necessary. 
  • From the time of delivery of the puppy, all veterinary and care costs become the sole responsibility of the buyer, including any diagnostic tests necessary in the event of illness or death of the puppy.
  • Buyer will provide puppy with routine preventive care, such as vaccinations, annual physical examination by a licensed veterinarian, and follow the veterinarian's guidelines.
  • The dog will reside with the Buyer as a companion pet to Buyer and Buyer's family
  • Buyer will not keep dog chained or tethered.
  • Buyer will not breed dog before 24 months old, and all OFA clearances and genetic testing has been completed and then only if breeding rights were agreed upon at the time of sale
  • Buyer will not act as an agent for any other person or entity in the purchase of the dog.
  • Buyer agrees never to sell, give, trade, transfer or release the ownership of this dog to a commercial breeding establishment, pet shop, retail store, dog dealer, animal testing facility, research facility or any agent or party of such business does not include in the original sales agreement.
  • The buyer will not neuter/spay the dog until 18 months old, preferably 24 months old. The dog will be neutered/spayed by 36 months of age and will provide proof to the breeder. 
  • In the event, at any future time, buyer cannot or unable to keep this dog, the Buyer will contact Sweetbay Goldens for help in rehoming the dog.

Disclaimer: We love our dogs, and it's very important to us that our puppies find loving homes that are an excellent match for them! Every puppy is as different as the homes they are placed in. What may be an excellent fit for one puppy may not be the best for another. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption/sale to anyone who we feel is not a good match for our puppies. We network with and have formed good working relationships with many reputable breeders. If we do not think our puppies are a good fit for you, we will do our best to refer you to another breeder.
